Dan began teaching himself programming during the summer of 2019 on a semi-informal basis. Once he had the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MongoDB solidified, he attended a coding bootcamp in March of 2020 hosted by the University of California at Berkeley to obtain a certificate and study the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React, and NodeJS) stack. Once completed, he continued to learn by expanding his skillset to include Java, and was later accepted to Pyramid Consulting's training program, Pyramid Academy (now GenSpark) in September of 2020. While training, he learned basic competency in Java, learned about Hibernate and Spring with an emphasis on Spring Boot, and solidified his knowledge of React further. When he completed training, he decided to further his skillset by participating in Pyramid Academy's pilot program in DevOps, including AWS, Docker, Linux, Python, and other DevOps tools such as Selenium. Once he completed his training, he was hired shortly thereafter by Delta Air Lines on a contract basis to join their communications team in March of 2021. He began contributing to the team shortly after joining by moving applications to a new OpenShift environment, then participating and contributing to efforts to move an API from on-premise to AWS. 11 months later, he was promoted to full-time status and employment by Delta. As an employee, Dan continued to expand his skillset and obtained his AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification. He also became the Subject Matter Expert for many of the teams applications, and as a result, was asked to do training sessions for team members in the company's Bangalore office ranging from junior to senior level. After spending some time at Delta, he was contacted by an employee at Cabnit, Inc. who informed him of an opening at the small startup. After going through interviews with various members of the company, he joined the company in October 2022. While at Cabnit, he was the primary support contact for two of the startup's clients, and contributed various microservices to them and other clients of the company. In the short amount of time that he has been in the technology sector, he has gone from little coding knowledge, to contributing to teams, training new and old team members, and expanding his skillset through private study. As he was accepted into New World Symphony (one of the most prestigious orchestra training programs in the world, with an acceptance rate lower than Harvard University), as well as placing in an international music competition, he has a degree of tenacity and determination that has served him well during his life both as a musician and in the technology sector. He also has strong communication and teamwork skills developed during his time as a musician, and a keen eye for details, which he has integrated into his current profession. In his spare time, he continues to learn more about Java, AWS, and networking. He also enjoys cooking, spending time with his corgi, and the occasional video game to unwind.
